Niykee who's had a whirlwind few years including being chosen by Snoop to join Snoop at The YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee has a regular songwriting routine despite this. She is a constant magnet for new producers starting out. A lot of tracks she gets are a source of song ideas. I can tell if a beat is good after the first five seconds, and I'll be able to get a tune in my head, and I'll start writing immediately she says. As I play my guitar outside on my porch the words begin to flow. Most of the time it is done in 30 minutes. While she develops as a lyricist Niykee notes that her pain from the past serves as an endless source of inspiration. Even when I'm not writing in a literal way about what has been a part of my life, all the hurt of growing up and loss of my sister being incorporated into my music she says. My songs are shaped by it and I see the bigger picture beneath everything. It's among the elements that is crucial for me.
